Nancy Brown is CEO of the American Heart Association (AHA), a 96-year-old organization guided by a mission: To be a relentless force for a world of longer, healthier lives. Under Nancy’s leadership, the AHA has risen from the largest and oldest nonprofit focused on cardiovascular diseases and stroke, to a global authority in overall health and well-being.

Backed by over 40 million supporters and staff, Nancy has championed AHA achievements including, but not limited to:

Launching Research Goes Red with Verily’s Project Baseline, empowering women to participate in clinical studies • Leveraging artificial intelligence to prevent and treat cardiovascular diseases through an alliance between the AHA Institute of Precision Cardiovascular Medicine and Duke Clinical Research Institute

Creating the AHA Center for Accelerated Drug Discovery with Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory to reduce drug development time and get medicines to the market sooner

Announcing One Brave Idea™, an $85 million research collaboration to end coronary heart disease, co-founded with Verily, and supported by AstraZeneca and Quest Diagnostics

Convening the AHA CEO Roundtable to pilot science-based solutions to workplace wellness, including mental health • Co-founding the Value in Healthcare Initiative with the Duke-Margolis Center for Health Policy to improve patient outcomes by supporting more accessible and affordable systems of care

Translating science into products that promote brain health and healthy aging

Establishing the AHA Social Impact Fund to invest in solutions to health disparities in underserved communities

Influencing laws favoring better health, including legislation on sugary drinks, e-cigarettes, and CPR in schools

Nancy is a volunteer leader with the World Economic Forum in the following roles: co-chairman, Health Governors Community; Member, Executive Board, Global Coalition for Value in Healthcare; member, Board of Stewards; member, Precision Medicine Council; and member, Centre for the Fourth Industrial Revolution. She is also vice-chairman of the Truth Initiative.

Her memberships include the National Health Council Board of Directors, Phillips Advisory Board, Verily Project Baseline Advisory Board, Leadership18, Coalition to Transform Advanced Care, Research! America, Alliance for a Healthier Generation, Campaign for Tobacco-Free Kids and the Valentin Fuster-Mount Sinai Foundation for Science, Health & Empowerment.
